Rainy days

Posted by admin in food, work

Tuesday began with the alarm of my cell phone with it’s irritating ring and it is so bad it forces me to get up and really wish I could throw it against the wall and sleep more but life gets in the way and bills haunt me and I love my toys folks. It is just that simple.

I woke up – took the shower and did my morning routine and went to have a horrible stale bowl of cereal – raisin bran by the way for you stalkers out there (you know who you are – call me) and then went to my first appointment.  It went ok to say the least but at least she listened and then nicely said no she wasn’t going to buy anything.  I felt like Tommy Boy as he was told never take a no for an answer and then would quickly get up and leave once he (and I) received the no.

I was determined to do better on the next appointment and walked into this old office waiting to talk with with older doctor and had to wait and wait and wait.  Meanwhile I kept having to go back to my car to get something and it was raining like crazy – so bad that the roads were flooded – people were driving crazy and I sighed – I am so lucky to have the honor of doing this job.  She finally came out and I soon learned she hadn’t been doing much with the products at all even after all of the training I did for her and the staff.  She would make neat notes on her papers but would probably never look at them again.  The part that really surprised me was when she said she would buy some of the newer items and so I took the order.   I reviewed the training again with her and made some other suggestions and she wrote them all down and smiled.  She reminded me of my grandmother as she would glance at me with those eyes and the way she wrote each word with such care.

The next appointment was not so great – the doctor was stiff and I felt like I was back in grade school and had to go to the office since I was in trouble.  He glanced at me like I had told him to go f**k off but I would never do (wink wink at least to his face) that – I reviewed the new items and he said he would consider them and so I left.

The evening came quickly and I didn’t have many dinner options so I went to Applebee’s and I have to tell you that this meal was the BEST meal I have ever had at this place – I had a great salad and some gilled shrimp and they (the shrimp) were so hot and seasoned so well I almost placed another order.

The talk

Posted by admin in work

As I posted the other day I was concerned about how things were going at work – I have been making the calls – getting appontments and trying to make some sales but it seems like all of my accounts and I are not on the same page.  I had the talk with the boss and I was surprised to hear him be supportive rather than spend an hour yelling at me.  I guess since I have some horrible bosses in the past I felt like a battered child just waiting for that next slap.  Instead he was very helpful and gave me some ideas on how I could improve and to hang in there.

Later that night I had to drive to southern Indiana and I would be spending a week there and end the week with a tradeshow in Bloomington with a coworker of mine.  It is a long drive but I have my podcasts to keep me entertained.

Thanks for my life….

Posted by admin in death, life, love, work

As you can see by many of the posts I write about my job and how boring it has been lately. I travel on the roads of Indiana, Michigan and Northern Illinois every week for the past 5 years and have driven over 180,000 miles. Casualities of this job have been my ex, legs getting sore, I don’t get to see my family, friends and current partner as much as I would like. Benefits: I have met some wonderful people via my podcast while on the road and been able to get some perks from the job like free food, free hotels etc.

Today was going the usual way only the joy of driving in the rain helped to make it different. I went to see an account which could turn out to be a good one so we shall see. What happened next really shook me up and I was driving to my next account – going down this curvy road and as I completed the curve I look to see a van is heading my way in MY LANE and so I slam on the horn and praying to God that he/she is going to be moving over and I won’t get killed. My guardian angel must have some serious bumps and bruises because the van moved over just in time and I was lucky. I could have been killed instantly and for what? Someone on the cell phone talking to his/her love? Trying to change the radio since you didn’t want to hear the latest trash from Brittany? I really don’t care at the moment I am busy shaking and happy I am ok. I imagine what would have happen if I wasn’t and how I would have missed Joe and everyone I love including those wonderful people who take the time to listen to my show and comment and even the ones who don’t.

It made my realize that this job is not that important to me and how I am going to do my best to find something else soon so I don’t have to be on the road as much. Send those positive vibes my way people please!

Another day another $32.42

Posted by admin in work

Today was very weird since I had to go see this account that I haven’t been to in a long time. I walked in and the very first thing the office manager said was where are your glasses – I had lasik done about 1-1/2 yrs ago so I was shocked that it had been so long since I had visited them. The doctor who owns the practice has not been motivated to do more and so I was hoping to change his opinion today. Did it work? No since the doctor wasn’t even there. I talked with the office manager and some of the staff and I did sell a few things but it really wasn’t even worth the drive, the hotel cost and even the free bagel and diet coke I received from them.

Wacky Wednesday

I was busy doing work after midnight and realized I hadn’t posted a show in over a week and so I grabbed my microphone and began talking which is now episode 158 where I read many of the wonderful comments I have received on the show.

What continues to surprise is the response I get from my show and how it can make someone laugh or cry or get them involved by speaking out for all of us in the GLBT community. We are making strides in the right direction but we need more people to get involved and coming out can be one of those things. National Coming Out day is coming on October 11, 2007 and so when you feel the time is right then do it and do it for you and no one else. Life is far to short to sit on your butt and do nothing so make sure you do something for you each and every day.

This morning I went on a few appointments and they went well overall. I had to do some training for two doctors and and they are very excited about offering this as a service. They asked some detailed questions and I gave them the information they needed very quickly and I think there were impressed with the info I had provided. This account was the big sale I made last month so I am happy to get them going and hopefully the reorders will go well for them.

I went on some other appointments and they were ok nothing exciting to write about and then I had a long drive to get to the next area I had to be for tomorrow. I was upset at myself for not looking for the hotel brand I normally stay and staying at a dumpy place tonight. The rate was very good and but the place, the people working here and the other guests are kinda scary. I wanted to be on Archer’s group show this week and we had a horrible connection and it was hard to hear everything.

After the call I went to dinner and went to a place called O’Charleys and it was very good – had a bowl of soup and then a salad with grilled chicken, walnuts, cranberries, blue cheese (small amount) and had some low fat honey mustard dressing and it was very good. By the time I was back at the hotel it was past 9pm and so I decided not to get on the treadmill tonight since I don’t want to be up all night like I did the last time.

I talked with Joe and he is so great and I love him so much :)

I began to edit a new show and then a person by the name of Gary tried to call me on Skype. I began to chat with him and he told me he has been listening to my show for a while now and is listening to over one hundred podcasts and I was amazed by this info. I am hoping to have him on the show soon so stay tuned!

Gary if you read this – thanks for talking with me and I really appreciate your support!

Ok going to be bed now and hopefully will sleep well!

Monday Monday

Posted by admin in podcasts, running, work

Well here it is a Monday ready to greet us all with love and joy right? Wrong! Normally Monday is a nice quiet day with phone calls to my clients but today not so much. I had to wake up early and make a lovely drive to Michigan and do some training for a customer of mine. To make sure this was a fun day I had a front tire on my vehicle that was leaking air and so I was concerned about that as well. A bit upset since it is a new tire that was purchased not too long ago. I didn’t have time to take it in to be checked so I was hoping for the best. I was able to complete the 3 hour drive without an issue but felt I had to check the tire so I did and there was a lovely screw in the tire! I put some air in and then went to see my account and was surprised when the doctor offered to take me to the closest tire place so it could be repaired while I was doing the training! He showed me there are some nice people in this world after all. I dropped it off and we did the training and the staff were very pleased. Afterwards the doctor took me back and they fixed it at no charge at all. The only weird thing is that I told the doctor I would buy the staff lunch and so they bought everyone someone but ME and gave me the bill not that it matters.

I am trying to get back to my running (been a bad boy) and hope to maintain it so it is the reason I am posting it here to help keep me accountable. If there are any runners out there – let me know and let’s make a cyber running club! Especially for those of you who have a nano and the Nike+ program loaded – we can create a challenge and it will help keep us motivated! Did a 5k tonight and had some issues with my knee but really felt good afterwards. Burned 433 calories. I had a salad with grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, pineapple, strawberries and walnuts and had water to drink.

I was happy to hear shout outs from my favorite podcasts like Omar and Little Fatty and you should check them out if you haven’t already.
